This next image is from a lesser known book called, Batman: Hong Kong. Working a case brings Bruce to the other side of the world where he teams up with a new local vigilante, Night Dragon. Drawn in a more anime or manga style, this book takes advantage of its style and plays up the martial arts visuals of these two warriors of the night. Script by the brilliant Doug Moench, and stunning artwork by Tony Wong. Posted by Chris Gering

This image is taken from a personal favorite comic, JSA: The Liberty Files. A reimagining of the Justice Society with Batman added to their ranks. The book takes place during the time leading up to and during World War II and the Cold War. Bruce’s paired here with the Sandman and Hourman, two of the greatest members of the JSA. The book is scripted by Dan Jolley and artwork is by Starman artist Tony Harris. This is one of the best Elseworlds books out there. I highly recommend it. Posted by…

Here we have a remarkable image of Deadman riding along the back of the Batmobile. It is epic to look at. Though the Dark Knight himself is absent from this image, I truly enjoy this pairing of Bats and Boston Brand. One who dresses as a wraith, and the other an actual wraith. And true to form, they’re good friends. How ironic. Artwork is painted by the amazing John Estes. This image is taken from Batman/Deadman: Death and Glory. Posted by Chris Gering

This is probably my favorite image of the Demon's Head. Perhaps it is because for once, he and the Detective are not at each other's throats. Instead, within the pages of Son of the Demon, Batman has become the Demon's heir apparent and has decided he will take Talia for his bride and take over the League of Assassins. Here, they play the only game these two should play; chess. A terribly appropriate image and it reminds me how similar they are to Holmes and…

Greetings Bat boys and girls. Time for a new match-up. Lex Luthor vs. Batman. Just to reiterate, we’re using the same criteria as Superman vs. Batman. We’ll be looking at Jeph Loeb’s Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. If you’re not familiar with the plot, Lex puts a bounty on Superman’s head and Bats help Big Blue get out of trouble. Especially considering Lex is the President at this point in continuity. Now, to business kids. The…

This exceptional artwork is done by the talented Mr. John Van Fleet. Taken from Chuck Dixon's The Chalice, about Batman's quest to retrieve and protect the Holy Grail, who else but the Demon's Head would come to claim it. Here we see him locked in battle with his greatest foe, The Detective, as he refers to our dear Dark Knight. Posted by Chris Gering

For the first image of the Dark Knight's greatest adversary, second only to the Joker of course, we shall begin with an impressive illustration from Birth of the Demon. Artwork by Norm Breyfogle. This image is chilling and reminds us of the cost of al Ghul's soul which he pays in return for using the Lazarus Pit. This is one of the most amazing books about the Demon, and it is his origin book. We can all thank Denny O'Neil for introducing…

After a night of venting his frustration on the criminals in Gotham City, Bruce returns to the cave to find a letter that Damian wrote, declaring his intention to help Batman fight against Leviathan and stating his love and pride for being Bruce’s son. The best issues say the most with the least amount of dialogue. So it’s with Batman and Robin #18 that the entire story has nary a word or sound effect lettered into the page, leaving with the reader the sense of grief and loss that…

To conclude the week of my favorite images from Knightfall, I thought I would end it with an image that shows probably the most controversial aspect of Knightfall. The Azrael-Batman. Not only was the idea of Jean-Paul Valley taking over the mantle of Batman controversial, but also the look of his new Batman costume as well. Now I never really liked Jean-Paul Valley as Batman, and I do think his suit is a bit too theatrical for Batman to be wearing, but I have to say, I did…

Editor's Note: The following article is meant to be a take on how the Joker would react to the real world outside of the DC Universe and to current events. The article is also darker because it is in fact coming from the perspective of one of the darkest characters in The Batman Universe. Viewer discretion is advised. Greeting Bat-babies it is your dear old uncle J here. I think Queen said it best when they sang “another one bites the dust. And another…
