During the craze of Bat-mania following the Adam West 1960s show, a professional wrestler working out of the Northeast territory the WWWF (more well known as the WWF from 1979-2002 and now known as the WWE) named Tony Marino donned the costume and cowl of the Caped Crusader, had himself a Robin and wrestled various rouges as “Battman.” Mostly doing matches out of Pittsburgh for television programs, the gimmick lasted through 1970 as the Batman craze itself was winding down.
