The artwork depicted here is very reminiscent of Alex Ross, though I'm unsure whether he illustrated this or not. What struck me about this one is how similar, if not exactly, the Joker's depiction is to Heath's Joker. Heath has truly left his mark on the character, as we shall see in the next image taken from Lee Bermejo in Azzarello's "Joker." This image to me is so iconic and terrifying as Joker stands with a hostage and a swarm of thugs overwhelming, seemingly, our Dark Knight. Posted by…

To start off the best of the Joker images, I chose Jack Nicholson's Joker to get the ball rolling. Jack's performance of the Clown Prince of Crime is still one of the best of all time, and many consider it to be better than Heath Ledger's performance. However, given they are both different interpretations of the character, it's truly hard to say. Refer to the article, "Who's the Best Joker?" to see how it weighed out here at TBU. The second installment of the animated film version of Frank Miller’s famed graphic novel picks up right where we left off and hits the ground running. The media sensationalism continues to give the viewer a better sense of the world Batman is reemerging in. The animators have clearly kept it in the ‘80’s as Reagan is President, as he is the graphic novel. Superman’s role is incredibly similar to the way in which Nixon uses Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen. Funnily enough, both…

If you remember all the way back to September of last year you will probably recall I was not at all positive about The Dark Knight Returns Part One. In my opinion it suffered all the myriads that can make an animated film terrible: bad acting, terrible animation, clunky dialogue and awful music. And I did not have high hopes for part two. The clips I had seen of part 2 had not impressed me at all and…

Today the nominations for the 85th Academy Awards awards were announced , and while Warner Bros. made a strong push for the film to be nominated in several main categories, The Dark Knight Rises received zero nominations. While it's not too surprising The Dark Knight Rises didn't receive nominations in any of the big categories like Best Picture (even though The Dark Knight not being nominated for best picture back in 2009 is what really made the Academy expand that category) it is surprising…

Some may remember that back in 2007 there was a Justice League film that was in pre-production. The film was set to be directed by George Miller and the role of Batman was filled by Armie Hammer. The film fell through due to a variety of reasons and never started shooting. Skip forward five years and with talks of another Justice League film underway, rumors are already floating around on who could be the new Batman. Moviehole.net is reporting from sources that Hammer actually is still…

There are graphic novels that I can't remember as well as I remember this one. The level of storytelling, especially through the use of the media in Gotham City. The animated film of Frank Miller’s redefinition and reemergence of the Batman as a gritty, tough, even sadistic version of his former self. However, make no mistake loyal Bat-fans. Bruce is old. Too old to be out swinging over rooftops. Or so we think. He still has the edge, but most importantly, he scares criminals more than ever…

I know there are some Spiderman fans out there who also may be Batman fans. This video that I am showing off today, not only takes a dig at the new Spiderman movie, but also again shows that Batman is just smarter. Posted by Dustin Fritschel
