Episode 147

The reporter who doesn’t do his research, Joshua Lapin-Bertone, is my co-host for this episode. Shake, shake, shake! The main event is the 1999 crossover event, Cataclysm. Before we get to that, however, Josh and I talk about the new “It” film. The reviews continue with Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #14 and Batgirl #15. Chris gives a spooky review and begins his coverage of Batman Adventures, before my literature recommendations finish up the episode.

Really enjoyed the coverage of Cataclysm – I recently bought it on Comixology sale, and it’s a really solid story in itself, and a solid lead-up to No Man’s Land. Though won’t you be jumping backwards quite a bit to catch up with the Birds of Prey before that ginormous crossover?

What would you think about a Barbara Gordon solo title similar to the Supergirl: Being Super miniseries that came out recently – out of continuity, aimed at a slightly different audience than the “mainstream” Batman titles? I think it might be nice to bridge the gap between the mainstream universe and DC Super Hero Girls, which I think the current Larson title is trying unsuccessfully to fill.

Also, all this talk of a Spoiler podcast makes me really want to make a Violent Vindicators podcast about Steph and Helena Bertinelli. But that would require me to actually learn how to podcast. 🙁 Ah, well.
