Ben Affleck is the New Batman-Film to be Released on July 17th, 2015

We have our new Batman for the new Batman/Superman movie, and it is Ben Affleck! Warner Bros. made the announcement today Ben Affleck will be staring as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the film, as well as announcing that the movie will be relased on July 17th, 2015. Here is what Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. executives Greg Silverman and Sue Kroll had to say about the casting:

Greg Silverman: “We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular super heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.”

Zack Snyder: “Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him."

Sue Kroll: “We are so thrilled that Ben is continuing Warner Bros. remarkable legacy with the character of Batman. He is a tremendously gifted actor who will make this role his own in this already much-anticipated pairing of these two beloved heroes."

This is definitely some exciting and news for the Batman/Superman movie. Batman/Superman will be released on July 17, 2015.

    To quote Darth Vader, “Nooooooooo!”

You know, there was a time I would have worried about this choice. That time is not now. I'm in.

I think it will be great! If not, then it is only a bad Batman in a Superman movie and they can still do a Batman reboot. But I think Ben will be great!

  • I will just say this, watch Hollywoodland, The Town and Argo and tell me he isn't a good actor. Good script equals good acting. Not my first choice, but am getting behind this. Am hoping he does bulk up though.

Dustin's right, Affleck was amazing in all those movies especially Argo in my opinion, watching those movies compared to some of his lesser movies, it seems like two different actors so, I'm also 100% behind this idea.

I honestly don't know what to think. Hopefully Ben will be great.

I'm not at all surprised by this; Affleck's involvement in the DC movie universe has long been rumoured. He wasn't my first choice either but only because I think it takes an older actor to really fit the part, that wouldn't work for the story though so in terms of younger actors, I think Affleck is the best choice.

I'm optomistic. The other rumoured choices were not looking too good at all in my opinion and the idea of Christian Bale coming back (for a rumoured 50 million) didn't do anything for me as, chris Nolans story of Batman finished on a high as did Bales version of the character. Ben Affleck is a logical choice. A big enough name to peak mainstream interest but not big enough to overshadow the film itself. He is a great actor in the right role (see Argo, The Town). And he could play both Batman and Bruce Wayne which for my money on Bale has been able to pull off. We will see in a couple years I guess.
