Hard to imagine Christian Bale, Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans or any other superhero live actor resorting to this today. But after the show ran its course, one of the things Adam West did for gigs was to appear in costume, and sometimes with the Batmobile and Burt Ward as Robin, at events ranging from auto shows to just a simple public appearance, such as this one photographed by a Chris Curely who took this shot of a West appearance at a mall…
The original 1966 Batmobile which was used on the Saturday morning live action T.V. show has sold at auction for $4.6 Million at the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. George Barris, the creator of the 1966 Batmobile, put the car up for sale after years of turning down large sums of money for the car. When asked why he decided to finally part with the car, he says that after sitting in his studio for so long he thought it was time for the car to be put somewhere where it could be…

Hello everyone, Gary from Bat-Fans here! It's been a real busy couple weeks, but I wanted to take some time to share with you my Batman experiences from this year's Dragon*Con in Atlanta, Georgia! As a more Sci-Fi/Fantasy heavy convention there wasn't a whole lot of Batman comic guests, but TV's dynamic duo Adam West and Burt Ward, were both in attendance this year! in fact, the mayor of Atlanta gave commendations to both and declared September 1st "Adam West and Burt Ward Day!" How cool is…

A couple of new rumors have popped online and one interesting bit. The first one is not a rumor as much as it is an interesting thought. It turns out that when Anne Hathaway was auditioning for The Dark Knight Rises, she was unaware of what role she was trying out for. She actually assumed it was for the role of Harley Quinn. It wasn't until she was done auditioning that she found out it was for Catwoman. Although…

This isn't my usual thing around here, but after seeing this video the other day, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to share it! Done sometime in the late 1970s, probably 1977, Adam West dropped by the local Memphis, Tennessee television station WHBQ, apparently in town for a local car show gig, and only decked out in the cowl, for some reason not in a full Batman costume. And this was during the time slot that the station broadcasted professional…

Ever wonder about how Batman came to be? Well, this quick history lesson should catch you up on why Batman is as popular as he is. Batman was created in 1939 by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger as a response to the success of Superman. Although Kane is considered to be the creator of Batman (and receives credit on all Batman comics published to this day), Finger did make several important contributions of his own. For example, it was Finger who influenced the look of the character. Not many…

The title of this post doesn't really do the humor justice, but the image will. So if you're traveling and taking trips to public places, watch out! The floor you are shuffling your feet across may be "West", that's right, not "Wet" but "West". I will say that this image does display some impressive work with a sharpie marker no less. Big thank you to Dustin, and everyone at TheBatmanUniverse.net for two tickets to see Batman: Live at my chosen venue, The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow on August the 3rd of this year, which was the opening night, for Batman: Live here in Glasgow. Batman: Live is the retelling of the origin of Dick Grayson, from boyhood acrobat, to the boy wonder. A classic story that anyone who has seen the movie “Batman Forever” can tell you about, so it was certainly a mighty task…

Three years ago when we first heard about the Batman: The Brave and the Bold series, a lot of us were very skeptical. I am not sure if any of us will ever forget the first time we heard Batman speak; "The jig is up, Kiteman!" While those words may never be forgotten, Batman: The Brave and the Bold has…
