Comic Book Resources recently talked with a number of reps from Mattel in a conversation regarding DC's partnership with the toy company. There wasn't a whole lot of news revealed. They did mention that they have plans to release similar lines and items for The Dark Knight Rises as what they did with Green Lantern. They also mentioned that they are looking at the upcoming Beware the Batman series and figuring out what to do next. The big reveal though was that Red Robin was revealed to be in an upcoming series for the DC Universe Classics line.

Mattel did not have any panels related to the DC Universe slew of figures that will be released in the coming months, but they did however show off a number of figures in their display cases. First up, we have the figures that are part of the DC Universe Classics line. Not much is known about this Penguin figure as we assume it will be part of an upcoming line. No information was listed at the booth.

-Mattel has formed a partnership with Diamond Distribution to distribute DC figures in Europe.

-Fisher Price will be releasing a line based off of the DC Superheroes including Batman, Batgirl and Joker.

There was not a lot of news that was released at the Mattypalooza panel this morning in regards to Batman. There was however a few things related to the future of the DC Universe Classics line. It seems that the fan favorites along with the figures made for collectors are not selling well at retail locations so the line will continue to exist in retail stores without the fan favorites. Mattel has revealed images of two lines of action figures packaged. This includes Wave 17 of DC Universe Classics and Young Justice. Out of the two lines there are two images from The Batman Universe.

Alright, so as some may know, I recently moved back to where I grew up, Chicago. Well, this week marks the first convention on a major scale in the city. I attended today and will be attending all weekend. I have to say that I am really pleased with what I have seen so far.
