The issue starts with Supergirl and Jesse Quick racing around the Monitor, doing chores and talking about losing loved ones and fate, when they are visited by a woman claiming to be the Green Lantern of her world and in need of help. Jade is then seen talking to Faust about the Starheart when she is alerted. And then we see Dick sparring with Donna Troy who assures Dick that her bottom line is that now, even though…

This over-sized issue of Batman has me on the fence. On the one hand we have a great story with a lot of human emotion in it, and on the other we have the fact that these issues are re-hashed and a couple of years old. I’ve read these issues before and thought they were pretty well done and whole, although even then, I did not enjoy the dumpster fire that was and is Scott McDaniel’s artistic approach. But…

Not even a month after director, Christopher Nolan officially confirmed that he would return to direct a third Batman film back in September, within the following days a group of rather intriguing rumors began to surface. Dating all the way back to August, the first rumor to reach the internet was when several websites learned that Batman 3 was to begin shooting in April of 2011 in the city of New Orleans. One speculated reason for this is that Warner Bros. would like to take advantage of the tax incentives that the city has offered after they have formed a…

Alright, another great set to review. Warner Bros. sent over the DVD version of Smallville season 9. Twenty-one episodes are included on this set. There are some special features featuring some of the behind the scenes details about some of the episodes. So what did I think? Well, let's cover what is in the set. The set includes twenty episodes and one two hour episode. This season of Smallville dives more into the lore of Superman by continuing Clark's job at The Daily Planet and building…

Two comic books for the price of one review this month as we continue the JLA/JSA The Dark Things crossover Brightest Day tie-in event. We start in JSA #41 where we see that a Starheart controlled Obsidian and Dr. Fate have taken out the Shade and Faust, and capture Wildcat and Jay Garrick Flash. And we see the JSA All Stars try to hold their ground while all sorts of chaos is going on. The combined…

“I am Iron Man. Think you are the only superhero in the world? Mr. Stark, you’ve become part of a bigger universe, but you just don’t know it yet,” Nick Fury, director of SHIELD. “I’m here to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative.” Those words, spoken by Samuel L. Jackson at the end of 2008’s Iron Man are words that may have shaken up the way comic book movies are made. On its own Iron Man was a…

In the 1960s, writer Bob Haney got the idea to take all the younger characters in the DC Universe and mash them together as a team. Not unlike the very successful Justice League Of America. And so in the summer of 1964, in the pages of Brave and The Bold #54, Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad teamed up. A year later, in issue 60 the team got its first female member in Wonder Girl, and a name, Teen Titans. And by 1966 the team would have its…

Batman in the JLA
In this, the second entry of my “Year of the Batmen” series, I am going to discuss the Dick Grayson Batman and the dynamic of his entry into the newly reconstituted Justice League of America.
For the longest time the JLA was led by the holy trinity of the DC pantheon, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. The Batman character, specifically embodied by Bruce Wayne, was often seen as the intellectual leader of the JLA and for the most…

The DC DTV animated movie series has had its fair share of ups and downs. It has put out awesome movies, like Green Lantern, or Wonder Woman, and it has put out very bad movies, like Superman Batman: Public Enemies. So where does JL: CTE, the latest film in this series, sit? Well, it’s at the top. This movie was fantastic! Before I actually review it though, I want to go into the history of the film. It originally was supposed to be Justice League: Worlds Collide,…

We received a copy of the DVD version of Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths a little while ago and it releases today in stores. Should you head to the store and buy this right now? Well, I am going to let you know. At first glance, this film seems like another quick story to expand the animated DC Universe, yet something feels strangely familiar. We have the Justice League battling villains in order to save the world. Does that remind you of something? Perhaps,…
