One of the things I liked best about Knightfall was Bane's plan to drain Batman both mentally and physically by breaking out all of Arkham's inmates, and having them wreak havoc on Gotham. In probably the most memorable encounter Batman had before his fight with Bane, Batman goes up against the Joker and Scarecrow, where he is sprayed with Scarecrow's fear toxin, and sees images of Joker killing Jason Todd. The Penultimate issue of ‘Death of the Family’ opens with prison guards dressed as Batman and Joker dancing in Arkham cells.
