In this special, non-Babs related episode, I, along with Dustin and Joe from 'The Batman Universe,' and Michael Bailey from 'Views from the Longbox,' add commentary to Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, the 2010 DC animated movie. Synch this episode with your DVD and you can follow along with us! While this episode does not directly relate to Babs, it definitely has ties to the character for me, as this movie has a connection to the scrapped 'Batgirl: Year One' DTV.

DC Showcase presents Superman/Shazam! Wait, isn't DC Showcase a comic? Well it was, and now it is a series for animated shorts from the DC Universe. The idea behind these shorts is to give a sort of overview of a lesser-known character in the DC Universe. It gives characters that would otherwise not get individual screen time a chance to shine. The first short that was released was The Spectre on the…

"Batman/Superman: Apocalypse" and "Batgirl: Year One the Motion Comic" are two topics which I discuss at the beginning of this hour. Kimberley Rockmore joins me from the Watchtower Newsdesk, and shares some small screen news. Plus, I review Detective Comics #406 and #407, Batgirl #14, and Birds of Prey #5. I finish off the episode with my literature recommendation, and Thomas Matis pops on at the end for a few words on Batgirl #14.

The next film from Warner Bros. in the line of DC Animation gives us another Superman/Batman film. Last year around this same time, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies was released and I thought it was a very poor film. So this year when they announced Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, I have to say I did not have high hopes.
Ultimately, this proved to be a little bit of a surprise.
Superman/Batman: Apocalypse takes the origin story of Supergirl from the pages of Superman/Batman and turns it into a film. The story was originally written…

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse marks DC's ninth entry in their animated films universe, which is somewhat a sequel to last fall's animated film adaptation, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. Fortunately for the viewers, Apocalypse delivers a much more emotional and intense storyline compared to the previous film. Upon viewing, Batman: Under the Red Hood, I was given a new sign of hope. One of things that film was successful in doing was, presenting us with a storyline that was new and was not a exactly "faithful" adaptation to the comic book series it was based…

So the latest DC Universe animated Direct-to-Video film has come out, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, which of course is taken from the Supergirl From Krypton storyline in Superman/Batman #s 8-13 written by Jeph Loeb and art by the late Michael Turner. I went in this with some low expectations, considering the way the “ripped from the comics” (Superman: Doomsday, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, Batman: Under The Red Hood) had left me a bit lukewarm in terms of how they dealt with what needed to be changed in order to fit a narrative that needed…

Next up on the DC Universe Animated Direct To Video docket is Superman-Batman: Apocalypse which some are calling a sequel to Public Enemies, but in reality it is a sequel only in that it is the next story line that follows in the S/B Jeph Loeb series. Following a quick one shot featuring Robin, Tim Drake, and Conner Kent the story, titled Supergirl in the trade that came out in 2005 played out in issues 8-13 (running through the spring and summer of 2004). To set things up, a little history…
