TBU Review Roundup 5/17


Below you will find brief descriptions of this week’s comics along with the ratings. Below the main TBU titles will be the DC Universe specific titles that feature characters from The Batman Universe. Rather than giving in depth reviews for those titles, we will be describing what happens in the book involving TBU characters and how it possibly impacts the story.


Main TBU Books

Batman #23: A death that Batman investigates brings Swamp Thing into the mix when they discover that the victim is his father. A classic detective story takes place with an unexpected ending. -Matthew 4.5/5


Nightwing #21: Wally West heads to Bludhaven to spend some time with Dick. They end up dealing with a new villain named Timebomb, but quickly take him down. -David 3.5/5


Batwoman #3: Batwoman goes undercover to investigate the Kali Corporation which leads her to encounter Knife. -Jessica 3.5/5


Harley Quinn #20: Harley deals with the impending arrival of her parents while Harley Sinn is gunning for her as well as the Bat-Fan from the future. In the second story, Joker and Harley take a break from running and hideout in a motel for the night. -David 4.5/5

Main DC Universe Books

Super Sons #4: Lex Luthor arrives as Damian and Jon are tied up listening to the monologue of Kid Amazo to retrieve his armor. Kid Amazo’s sister ends up being the fall of villain as Damian and Jon head back home. -Jessica 5/5


Teen Titans #8: As Deathstroke continues his plans to utilize the Speed Force energy within Flash and Kid Flash, the Titans and Teen Titans team together to rescue their respective Wallys. -Ryan 4/5


Trinity #9: The Trinity are teleported to the Watchtower which is experiencing a meteor shower and as they try to help the situation, members of the Justice League, who are infected with some sort of alien virus, begin to attack. -Bill 3/5


Justice League #21: The Justice League race to stop and extinction event involving an alien device. The device is actually an alien heart and the League receive yet another warning. -Jim 3/5


The Flash #22: Batman and Flash are pushed through the time stream by Jay Garrick who gets them back to the Batcave in present time. -Matthew 4/5

DC Comics Bombshells #27 (digital chapters #79-81): The Bombshell versions of Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Joker’s Daughter all appear in the issue.


Green Arrow #23: Black Canary appears in the issue.


Injustice 2 #2 (digital chapters #3-4): The Injustice versions of Batman (Bruce Wayne), Calendar Man, Killer Croc, Man-Bat, Killer Moth, Clock King, Deadshot, Magpie, Orca, Harley Quinn, Polka-Dot Man, Jason Todd as Batman, Barbara Gordon, Lucius Fox and Black Canary all appear in the issue.


Justice League/Powers Rangers #4: Batman appears alongside the Justice League.


Superman #23: Batman and Damian appear in the issue locked in some sort of stasis capsule.
