Knight and Squire #3 is another solid comic from the creative team of Paul Cornell and Jimmy Broxton. However, something about this issue just didn’t grab me. It sure wasn’t the art, which is nice, and pretty, but also different from what I’ve come to expect from a comic, but not too different.
Maybe it’s the story, that just didn’t grab me, I mean sure it had some good ideas, but it didn’t really have any oomph. Now many of you out there will say, you have to be British, or have British friends to get the humor, or be a fan of British comedy, or some other annoying use of British. Well, I am Scottish, which is a part of Britain, and I don’t think I laughed very much reading this. I may have sniggered as the royalty took over the towns and cities, but nothing memorable.
I don’t want to go into a whole situation about the plot and what I felt about it, as you can all tell where I am going with this, it wasn’t that great. The idea that Paul Cornell advertised was awesome. The idea that he brought to the table was something different entirely. And that irked me, I came in expecting one thing, and came out with something else, something inferior to what I was expecting. It was still good, but it wasn’t something I would recommend picking up. Getting a trade of Knight and Squire, yes I can tell you to do that, but a single issue, I would just have to ask, why bother.
