A very quick but interesting 'Bat-Book Delays' for you this week. You'll remember in the last post that I mentioned how 'Batman: The Dark Knight' #3 was being delayed by a whole month and my comments that it should just be solicited as the bi-monthly comic that it seems to have become. Well DC have done that, but not exactly what I had in mind; of course DC hasn't announced this title as a bi-monthly comic but 'Batman: The Dark Knight' #4, after being pushed back a whole month just last week in the solicitations, has been pushed back by a whole month once again- leaving June, Finch free. The odd thing, however, is not the further delay but the fact that #4 is now solicited as the exact same day of release as #5.
I'm actually happy that DC has solicited this ahead of schedule, unlike the usual last-second changes we get. I am not happy, however, with the lack of information DC has given us! I believe it only fair that DC advertise these changes to the mass audience. Even David Finch is remaining quiet on the subject, his last blog post being in February and that was concerning the death of the late Dwayne McDuffie. On the other hand, I do find it incredibly strange that DC have not thought to move #5 from the 27th July, as if we will say "Ah, all of these delays are annoying but at least we get two issues on the same day!". Of course this issue will move and it will probably be another months gap in between issues but I'm getting to the point with this book that I don't really care anymore. If this becomes a bi-monthly comic and sticks to a regular schedule I will be happy, otherwise I may just drop the title.
All of that being said, you can pick up the following issues at your local comic shop tomorrow: 'Batgirl' #20, 'Batman and Robin' #22, 'Birds of Prey' #11 and 'Red Robin' #22.
