SUICIDE SQUAD: August 2016
First this week we have two of The Squad’s members recently speaking about their roles in the summer blockbuster. Discussing his character’s history in the comics, Jay Hernandez said of El Diablo “As a lesser known member of the squad, there wasn’t as much anticipation and there wasn’t people saying, ‘You’re veering off doctrine.’ There’s a certain level of freedom that I thought was great.” The actor also talked up the casts relationship with director David Ayer saying “As things would come out about certain individuals — stuff that [David] did not know — would just be so perfectly connected to the character they were playing. How did he know that before he ever heard this story? He’s f–g intuitive. Somehow he sees qualities in people that come from something and he knows how to use that to get at the character he’s trying to put out there.”
To give us a greater insight as to what to expect from Killer Croc, actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje told ComingSoon “At the time you meet him in this film, he’s a fully-fledged criminal. He’s really one of the baddest criminals known to be roaming in Gotham, hence his lockup in Arkham. He’s tangled with the Batman and here he is amongst these other foes. He’s very much a formidable force at the time that you meet him.” The interesting side note of what the Thor actor had to say was that he had tangled with Batman. While he was previously non-committal as to whether we see him tackle The Dark Knight on screen, this further supports the rumor that Croc and The Bat will meet face to face for us all to see.

JUSTICE LEAGUE: November 2017/June 2019:
In what may be the first move in getting the actor to the director’s chair for a certain DCEU property, Ben Affleck has officially been made Executive Producer of Justice League Part 1. Deadline reports that Batman himself will work alongside Argo scriptwriter Chris Terrio and Watchmen director Zack Snyder to make the film as good as it can be. Hopefully this will give the actor a taster for taking full reign on the announced solo Batman film, but for the immediate future it can only be a positive for Justice League’s production.
In other Justice League news, Jeremy Irons has confirmed he will reprise the role of Alfred after his turn as the butler turned mechanic in this years Batman V Superman. The actor told showbiz411 that he will return for not only Justice League, but also the Batman solo film. This isn’t surprising at all as the actor was one of the few universally lauded parts of Batman V Superman this year, but it’s welcome news nonetheless.
BOOSTER GOLD: TBA
After the success of Deadpool this year comes the news every DC fan wanted to hear, finally there’s movement on a Booster Gold solo film. Birth.Movies.Death are reporting that not only is Zack Stentz (Thor, Agent Cody Banks) writing the script for the film (who hinted as much on Kevin Smith’s Fatman on Batman podcast), but that Greg Berlanti will be producing and possibly looking to direct the release. This is exciting news as it cements the understanding that DC are looking to put out different types of super-hero properties (Suicide Squad looks vastly different to BvS in tone) and is likely to gain back some much needed good-will if announced officially.
