Associated Press broke the news about a new DC comic book series that will be launched in 2014 called The New 52: Futures Ends.
The new series will be written by Jeff Lemire (writer of Green Arrow), Dan Jurgens, Keith Giffen (writer of Larfleeze), and Brian Azzarello (writer of Wonder Woman). It will be set five years in the future and will be published on a weekly basis after it has been launched in stories on Free Comic Book Day in May 2014. According to Jeff Lemire he has stated the following about this new series:
Really, what we're trying to do with this book is to explore the nature of what a hero is and we're doing that, obviously by playing with the future of the New 52 timeline. Past present and future all colliding in this story line. To create new characters and new concepts that will hopefully have a life beyond the series.
According Associated Press, Terry McGinnis (Batman Beyond) will be making an in-continunity appearance. The new series will begin with Issue #0 in May featuring artwork by Ethan Van Sciver (former artist of Batman: The Dark Knight), Jesus Merino, Aaron Lopresti, and Dan Jurgens. There will be a rotation of artists on in this series since it will be published on a weekly basis.
