It seems like Hollywood is taking the holidays off as the steady stream of movie news has been reduced to a trickle. What news we do have is a fairly tiny morsel from director David Ayer on the status of Gotham City Sirens. In an interview with Cinema Blend, while promoting his Netflix film Bright, Ayer stated “working on it over at Warners. Just kicking it around in development” and reiterated in a Collider interview “it’s in development.”
Not a whole lot to go on…
We do know that Margot Robbie is eager to get Harley Quinn back on the big screen, but it seems most likely that we’ll see her appear in Suicide Squad 2 before a solo movie or Gotham City Sirens. It seems we’re going to be waiting quite a bit of time until we see the Sirens suiting up. Though as Warner Bros. examines their film slate it’s not completely unfeasible that they may fast-track a female-led film unless they’re waiting to see the performance of Wonder Woman 2 before committing. As of now, we know that a lot of things are up in the air so until we have solid confirmation, take all the news and rumors with a grain of salt.
