In recent interviews, former Lex Luthor actors Kevin Spacey and Michael Rosenbaum gave their thoughts about Jesse Eisenberg being cast as Lex Luthor in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel.
In an interview with The Cinematic Katzenjammer Rosenbaum says that he thinks Eisenberg is a really good actor and then goes on to say that Eisenberg doesn't need his help.
"First off, I think he's a really good actor, I don't think he needs any advice from me. He'll do his homework. Do it your way. I'm sure [director Zack Snyder] has an idea. He cast you for reason. Jesse's a good actor. He'll do it his own way, and that's the best way."
Rosenbaum has expressed interest in the Luthor role in the upcoming film after being encouraged by fans, but realized that he wasn't what the studio was looking for.
"If you can do it your way, if you succeed or fail, you succeed because you are being original," he continued. "If you're trying to emulate someone, you'll always be compared. That's why I didn't want to be compared during Smallville. I didn't watch any of Gene Hackman as Lex. He'll be fantastic. Great actor, no problem with it."
Kevin Spacey, who was a Producer on "The Social Network" which Eisenberg starred in, also gave his thoughts about the casting in an interview with Empire Magazine saying rather bluntly that Eisenberg will own the role.
"First of all, I think [Jesse Eisenberg] is a remarkable actor. He's just going to f**king own it. I think it's a great idea, and I wish him the best with it."
Man of Steel 2 is set to release May 6, 2016.
