Last fall, a promotion was run by Topps to offer a number of limited edition Mego action figures. In September, one of the weekly limited edition figures offered by Mego was Ra’s al Ghul. At the time the promotion would be on sale for one week and the figure would then ship about three months after the preorder period ended. Because Topps was running the exclusive limited edition runs of the figures, they had the right to offer refunds for the figures preordered if there was not enough demand to meet minimum production quantities.
So with all of that background information out of the way, it was a surprise to see Ra’s al Ghul become available for preorder among a number of other Topps exclusive figures at Entertainment Earth. There is no official word on whether Entertainment Earth reserved a larger amount of the exclusive figures to make available through their online retail store, but they are now available for preorder. Interestingly, all of the Topps exclusive figures seem to have made their way to Entertainment Earth for preorder.
If they are being sold on the secondary market, the price increase is minimal. The figure was originally priced at $19.99 and now is priced at $22.99. The new estimated release date is July 2022. So even if these are being made available on the secondary market, it gives collectors the ability to pick up the figure for a reasonable amount of money if they missed out on the Topps exclusive run last fall.
