This comic book review contains spoilers.
Killer Croc tells Demetrius that he is going to bring in another player. He refers to him as the Kreckk, AKA Projector. He was in Gotham City, and by appearances, he is just a comic book nerd. However, when Projector has a target and an electronic cash payment, problems get eliminated permanently.
Demetrius is being watched by Red Hood. At Lorett’s Lounge, the Watch finally all gather in civilian attire, including Dana Harlowe. She gives them an update on Battle’s condition, which is not good. Overall, they are talking about the past and the future. The Watch feels it is time to hang up their gear and restart their various lives, leaving the vigilante life to Red Hood. Dana tells them that he is not staying, so the group starts to fantasize about the Outlaws.
Back at Annie B’s diner, Denise enters. She discusses the former cook at the diner, Onmar Diseko with Carmen. Meanwhile, the Watch separates from the lounge, and Jason approaches Dana. Back at the diner, Carmen tells Denise about Omar and the training they, including Korlee Jr, attended with Ms. Asha. This peaks her interest, and she goes on to follow this lead.
Outside Gotham, Korlee meets with his father. His father is very much alive and in a retirement community. They start a conversation.
At dusk, Kreckk doses off, and some creatures awaken. These creatures view photos of Red Hood and the Watch.
On the roof of Jason’s apartment, he and Dana have a drink. They discuss Jason’s future in the Hill, and he decides to order in. They are interrupted by the doorbell, and a creature breaks into the room. Jason pulls his sidearm and empties into the creature. Elsewhere throughout the Hill, the other members of the Watch are attacked by similar creatures.
The gunshots have no effect, and Dana attempts to hit the creature with a dumbbell. That, too, does not work, but Jason gets up with a couple of crowbars. He beats the creature to death, and Batman arrives to discuss the others.
The stakes heat up in this issue. The hit on the Watch is signed, and the attack begins. This issue is heading for major violence. Each of the members of the Watch are individually attacked, and based on what it took to kill the creatures, it will take a lot to put them all down. The victims may not be able to protect themselves from this threat.
As far as who this Kreckk is, I do not completely understand. On appearance, he does not look like a killer, but it is possible that his imaginations have the power to become alive and may be a little outside of his control. Nevertheless, he does have a history in Arkham Asylum, and this is why Batman has arrived in the Hill.
The art is getting a little bit of an improvement here, but the design of Jason does not look right. His facial features are elongated and mashed into his face. The design is better when it is Red Hood, which in this issue is not long at all.
Demetrius looks like he is creating an alibi for himself, distancing himself from this attack on the Watch.
