According to the gaming website Kotaku, two of their sources are saying that Batman: Arkham Origins will include a multiplayer mode.
The first source apparently told the gaming website that Origins would be called Origins and would have a Christmas theme to it. That source also said that the game would have a multiplayer mode which was confirmed by another one of their sources while Warner Bros. declined to comment on it. According to the first source, the one that initially told Kotaku about the multiplayer mode says that in one part of the mode, players will play as a member of Joker's or Bane's gang as they try to take down Batman and Robin.
The villains involved and who may be playable and customizable include Killer Croc, Deadshot, Firefly and "some kind of Electroman character."
But as of right now, all of this is unconfirmed and of course should be treated as a rumor for now.
Batman: Arkham Origins hits store shelves on October 25, 2013 for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC.
