Matt Reeves’ Batman Film Will be a “New Story”

Writer/Director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, War for the Planet of the Apes) has decided to start The Batman with a clean slate when he helms the new film. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Reeves is not going to be following the script that Ben Affleck, Geoff Johns, and Chris Terrio had previously written in favor of bringing his own story and script to the next entry in the franchise, according to comments made on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast.

While Affleck remains firmly in place to reprise his role as Batman, it is not known is Joe Manganiello will still portray Deathstroke as the villain may not feature in Reeves’ new script which is reported to be a noir take on the caped crusader.

There is currently no release date for The Batman, but we only have to wait until November 17 to see Batman again when he forms the Justice League in the film of the same name.

If Deathstroke doesn’t appear, are there any villains you hope take his place in The Batman? And while 2018 is not likely for The Batman to release, would you want to see it as soon as 2019?
