DC is hoping to strike diesel-punk fueled success twice as the company announced it would be releasing a digital-first comic series based off their Gotham City Garage line of collectibles. Similar to DC Bombshells, the recent collectible to comic adaptation DC saw explode in popularity, Gotham City Garage takes established DC female characters and throws them in a world where they are bikers. And we’re not talking Tour de France bikers. These women, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn included, look like they’re ready to tear up the road and anyone who gets in the way of their motorcycles.
Jackson Lanzig and Collin Kelly (Grayson) are writing the series with a stable of artists including Brian Ching (Supergirl) and Lynne Yoshii.
“Gotham City Garage is an anti-fascist anthem for the open road, starring reimagined takes on DC’s great female characters through an outlaw lens,” Kelly said in a statement. “We’re bringing Big Barda, Steel, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Silver Banshee, Hawkgirl and the first Kryptonian this world has ever seen—the mysterious girl named Kara Gordon—into a world of bikes, outlaws and elaborate tattoos.”
When the bi-weekly series debuts on August 16, it will follow Kara Gordon’s journey from ordinary citizen to full on biker rebel. Please tell me she eventually forms an amalgamation of Supergirl and Batgirl called Super Bat.
