It was just last month that we reported on Metropolis, one of the sections opening at Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, but now details have been released on Gotham City which should make this indoor amusement park tops on your list of vacation destinations. Announced as one of the six themed areas when the project was announced, we now know what we can expect.
An official press release has announced that one of the primary features of Gotham City will be Batman: Knight Flight (as seen in the concept art above), which will see guests entering the Batcave through a secret panel in Wayne Manor after which they’ll board there own Batwing and take to the “skies” to stomp out crime in the city. The entire ride actually takes place within a flight simulator so think more VR than a roller coaster for this one.
Because this is an immersive land within the park, there are other attractions too. These are the official descriptions for each one.
Scarecrow Scare Raid: Amongst the shipping yards of Gotham City’s wharf, fans’ adrenaline will soar on the Scarecrow Scare Raid, a rousing flight experience that will rattle the cage of any bat or man. This ride blends wild interactive adventures with dizzying maneuvers from Scarecrow’s latest psychological experiments. This diabolical interactive experience features dramatic aerobatics and whirlwind barrel rolls, which are sure to leave an unforgettable impression.
The Riddler Revolution (as seen below in the concept art from last year): A rocking, spinning rollercoaster designed by The Riddler himself.
The Joker’s Funhouse (also seen in the concept art above): A villainous twist on the classic carnival walkthrough experience, the Joker’s Funhouse features a series of physical and mental challenges conjured up by Batman’s biggest foe, including a hall of mirrors, a shrinking corridor, a labyrinth, a hallucination hallway and moving carpets— among many other memorable encounters.
Rogues Gallery Games: A host of delightfully puzzling games also await park guests at Rogues Gallery Games. Ranging from the Hi-Striker, the Whac-A-Bat, and the Get-Away Car, to the Toxic Blast and the Bazooka Blast, guests will have a chance to use their skills to reclaim Gotham Pier— a once peaceful landmark now held hostage by The Joker and his henchmen.
There are also a few places where guests can whet their appetites, including Gotham City’s Finest, themed as the police department’s favorite hangout spot. For a dinner service meal, guests can head to the Hall of Doom which is hidden in an abandoned subway station and hosts dinner from some of Gotham’s villains. Guests can also get their sweet tooth fix by heading to Mr. Freeze Ice Scream Truck for dessert.
Finally, there will be two themed souvenir shops, including the Park Row Pawn Shop and Monarch Theater Gifts.
Gotham City, along with the rest of Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, will open later this year. The date opening date is set to be revealed in the coming months. You can find more details at their official site. What do you think of the announced attractions?
