It’s Monday and you know what that means… it’s time for the staff picks for October 17, 2023.
It’s another edition of Staff Picks. Last week, the Batman: City of Madness was the top pick amongst staff members. This week, well… not so much. With TBU titles, staff members basically chose the titles they’re reviewing (well, not Adil and Theo). With that being said, let’s get to them. Batman: Three Jokers TP
I’m buying this mainly on the strength of the art (which is phenomenal). I’m glad they’re still releasing this in softcover format and not inexplicably canceling it like other paperbacks that were supposed to come out because the writing isn’t strong enough for me to shell out more cash for the hardcover.
The Last God: The Fellspyre Chronicles Book 1 TP
Normally, something like this wouldn’t be on my radar, but I really enjoyed Phillip Kennedy Johnson’s writing in the Warworld Saga. I’ll be giving this a shot to see if it can surprise me too.

Batman: White Knight Presents – Generation Joker #6
A very nice wrap up by the Collins/Murphy team, and Mirka Andolfo’s art, while occasionally a bit incoherent on the action front, is very emotional and appealing!
Jay Garrick: The Flash #1
Jeremy Adams and Diego Olortegui (of Round Robin: Hawkman fame!) put together an extremly exciting, touching, and mysterious first issue of this new JSA miniseries!

Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #20
The dream team of Mark Waid and Dan Mora bring us back to the world of Kingdom Come, picking up on story threads from World’s Finest #12 and offering up a beautiful, fun, emotional ride.
Superman #7
This title has been easily one of the best DC titles in a long while and a return to glory for the most iconic superhero of all time. This oversized issue (legacy #850) is no different, offering up a treat for Superman and comic fans alike.

Nightwing #107
Bea and Ric’s relationship was the only part of the Uber Ric saga worth redeeming. In typical DC style, they ended it. But now she’s back in a whole new way and I’m here for it. Please, I gotta see how the back-up story ends as it’s only part 2.
Superman #7
I stopped reading Superman with “Bendis is Coming.” I wasn’t sure when I would pick it up again and I’ll be honest. I wasn’t sure if Williamson could pull me back in either. But alas, here I am. Williamson’s run has been outstanding since he came aboard with the Dawn of DC. If your not reading this, you should.
