A couple of new rumors have popped online and one interesting bit. The first one is not a rumor as much as it is an interesting thought. It turns out that when Anne Hathaway was auditioning for The Dark Knight Rises, she was unaware of what role she was trying out for. She actually assumed it was for the role of Harley Quinn. It wasn't until she was done auditioning that she found out it was for Catwoman. Although it isn't a rumor, it is interesting to bring up because the rumors could have swirled a lot more if Harley Quinn was in the film.
On to the rumors, with the first one regarding Azrael. It appears that a site is reporting that they have received a rumor that Joesph Gordon-Levitt has the codename of Azrael. While it is possible, I doubt a character that has ties to The Batman Universe would be worked in like this.
The other rumor involves Adam West. It was back when The Dark Knight Rises was filming in England that a rumor began about Adam West having a possible cameo in the film. It turned out that West just happened to be in England when filming was taking place. During an interview with IGN, West addressed the cameo, well, sort of.
IGN: Christopher Nolan's new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, is coming out in a few months. There's been rumors and speculation – nothing confirmed – that Batman could die in this one. Do you think that's too far for the character, or do you find that notion interesting?
Adam West: To me, it's an interesting idea because Batman – the character, the legend, the extension of it over all these years – it lends itself to different machinations, layers, different time zones – anything. You could really pretty much mold Batman. He's malleable, welcome and always interesting. They [Christopher Nolan] do The Dark Knight, and I did The Bright Knight. Ours was fun for the whole family.
IGN: Any kind of Dark Knight Rises cameo appearance?
Adam West: [laughing] I'd love to play Batman, and come in one night, flying in through the library window on the wings of a bat, or something. Right when Batman is totally overwhelmed with terrible things happening in Gotham City, and give him some advice. Either as a real character or fantasy character – whatever!
So West never says yes or no during the entire interview on whether or not he is in the film. Maybe Nolan gave him a lesson on how to sidestep a question?
