So last week we got our first peek at the new 'Batwoman' series with a preview in the back of the current comics, it looks impressive doesn't it! I know I'm looking forward to reading it, and look, it says the first issue is due out April 6th. Well as we all know, that's when J.H.Williams III intended the series to start. But what's this? A quick look at DC's solicitations and you'll notice that 'Batwoman' issues 1 and 2 have both been taken down and orders for the series by retailers have been canceled. Surely there's an explanation!
Well yes, eventually, but for over a week we, the fans, have been wondering what happened. No post on 'The Source', and Williams III had nothing to say on his blog either, suspicious considering his promptness to comment the last time the series was delayed. Does this mean that the delays this time around are his fault? Well apparently not as Williams III made a post last Saturday claiming innocence once again, although the reason is apparently confidential. Do we trust Williams III? I'd like to, I'm certainly an admirer of his work but I'm being continually frustrated by the lateness of this title and I can't think of any reason why DC would delay this title! If they're doing it for hype I can only see it back-firing as these cancellations will only lose fans-this is foolish considering the amount of new readers 'Batwoman' has brought to comic books.
'Batwoman' is the only title being delayed this week but 'Batman Incorporated' has another double issue month in May. I don't understand this. Fair enough having two issues out this month to make up for the missing issue from February but why are more issues being solicited so close together? I'm not complaining by any means but it makes me suspicious that there is some greater plan that Grant Morrison is weaving in to.
