The 2011 Video Game Awards were held last night and Batman: Arkham City walked away with four awards. They were nominated for a total of ten awards and unfortunately did not take home the coveted Game of the Year Award. Many video game fans knew that is was small chance that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim would not take the award.
The awards that Batman: Arkham City did walk away with are still not a shabby bunch; Character of the Year, Best Xbox 360 Game, Best Action Adventure Game and Best Adapted Video Game. Best Action Adventure Game was an award that the previous installment lost out to Uncharted and with the sequel one competing against Batman: Arkham City, it is a huge honor. For the entire list of winners, head over to Spike.
There was however some minor talk about the sequel to Batman: Arkham City. The Character of the Year award was given to the Joker and when announced the Joker appeared on the screen holding a confidential folder with the name "Batman: Arkham World Script" on it. It is unlikely that this is the name of the anticipated sequel, or whether Joker will appear in the game itself. It is important to note that the Joker chucked the script once he received the award.
