It’s been a wild ride through the underbelly of Gotham, and there’s no telling how Batman’s latest video game journey will end. Telltale has announced today that the fifth episode of Batman: The Enemy Within, titled “Same Stitch”, will release across all platforms (PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and mobile) on Tuesday, March 27. The episode will conclude the season arc of just how much of a hand Batman and Bruce Wayne have had in the creation of the Joker, who until this episode was known only as John Doe, a well-meaning if a bit unhinged “friend” of the Dark Knight. And it’s going to be one heck of a finale.
While the previous episodes of Batman: The Enemy Within have clocked in at around an hour and a half each, the final episode will contain three and a half hours of plot and will follow one of two distinct paths. The first path leads to the Joker we all know and love, while the second path will see the Clown Prince of Crime be more vigilante than a villain, but still just as twisted as he always has been. According to Telltale, the script for the final episode contains more than 4,500 lines of dialogue, more than the entire Dark Knight trilogy.
“Without exaggeration, Same Stitch is the most ambitious piece of content Telltale has ever produced,” says Season Lead Writer James Windeler. “We had to adjust our usual development process to accommodate the added scope, but it was super important to us to honor players’ choices, whether they chose to befriend John or not. We had to deliver on the season’s central promise of allowing players to craft their own Joker.”
Telltale is pulling out all the stops on this final episode so be sure to stay tuned for our final review of the season and let us know which Joker you think your own play-through has created.
