TBU had previously reported that DC Entertainment was suing the Spanish soccer team Valencia over a logo which they claimed was too reminiscent of the familiar Batman logo.
According to The Guardian, the club applied for copyright for the new symbol but ditched it after DC Comics “presented its opposition to the request.” Last week, DCfiled a complaint with the European Union’s Office for the Harmonization of the Internal Market, but Valencia insists “there does not exist a lawsuit by DC Comics.”
The bat has been commonly used in Spanish heraldry since the 13th century and has been a part of Valencia’s club logos since 1919, two decades prior to Batman’s comics debut.
