We hope everyone had a good holiday season. Despite the slow news cycle because of the holidays, there were still some things to keep an eye on, including the fate of Black Adam being decided.
As part of a smaller-than-normal Gunn Watch, the main focus is the future of the Shazam Universe. Zachary Levi made different comments about his potential future in the new direction of the DC Universe under the new regime. In short, it is too soon to know what will happen. With the new film coming in March, things may be in a wait-and-see mode.
But the big news was the fate of Black Adam being decided and the fallout from that decision. Dwayne Johnson announced that DC has no immediate plan for Black Adam with their new slate. James Gunn stated he hopes to work with Johnson in some capacity, but it seems that Black Adam, a Shazam villain, will not be having a future any time soon.
The fallout of that announcement included more details on what exactly transpired behind the scenes with Johnson and his bid to control at least a portion of the future DC Universe in film. That report from Variety also enlightened us on a few other small updates regarding the new slate that a portion of is expected to be announced this month.
To wrap up the episode, we discuss an article that came across our desk regarding the most popular movie franchises and where Batman falls on the list.
