Below you will find brief descriptions of this week’s comics along with the ratings. Below the main TBU titles will be the DC Universe specific titles that feature characters from The Batman Universe. Rather than giving in depth reviews for those titles, we will be describing what happens in the book involving TBU characters and how it possibly impacts the story.
Main TBU Books
Batman #8: After Batwoman tries to take down the monster who was Nightwing, Batman teams with Clayface to stall Gotham Girl’s monster until Duke can arrive with an antidote. -Matthew 3/5
Nightwing #6: After Batwoman assists Gotham Girl in bringing Dick back to the world of humanity, an investigation reveals that Strange has caused all of this, including some sort of monster combined with venom, who is taken down, and Batman heads out to find him. -David 3/5
Harley Quinn #5: Harley is offered a proposition by the local police chief where she helps him track down a group that doubles as a rock band called Purple Satin. Harley decides to create her own band and gets a makeover along the way. -David 4.5/5
Secondary TBU Books (miniseries/digital firsts)
Batman ’66 Meets Steed and Mrs. Peel #4 (digital chapters #7-8): The Caped Crusaders, Steed and Mrs. Peel hunt down the treacherous jewel thieves who are attempting to rob the White Star Diamond. In the process they find out that Mr. Freeze plays a part in the caper. -Gerry 2.5/5
Main DC Universe Books (involving TBU characters and elements)
Justice League #6: In the first part of “State of Fear”, the Justice League face an unknown threat and only after working together are they able to win. It does appear that some damage to the League has occurred as Barry and Jessica’s dinner date goes bad and Superman decides that he must kill Batman. -Jim 4.5/5
Secondary DC Universe Books (involving TBU cameos and digital firsts)
DC Comics Bombshells #18 (digital chapters #52-54): The Battle of Berlin, and the story arc Uprising, concludes as Batwoman’s army of refugees and resisters magically teleports to Vichy France, where they meet with the reconciled sisters Mera and Siren and the magically teleported Atlantis. However, Joker’s Daughter has magically teleported her army as well, and orders all but her former slaves Raven, Zatanna, and Harley slaughtered. Batwoman’s forces are victorious, and strip Joker’s Daughter’s magic from her, but spare her life. Our heroines settle in or head to their next destination, but Mari, the Vixen, arrives in Atlantis to give the Bombshells their next arena.
Green Arrow #8: Green Arrow and Black Canary share some time on an island while Oliver tries to map out his priorities.
Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year Five #19 (digital chapters #37-38): On an alternate Earth, the Justice League battles a team of villains led by Lex Luthor only to discover they were distractions for the Joker’s nuclear bomb threat. Just before capturing the Joker, some members of the League teleport away with him.
