DC Comics has announced their solicitations for the month of April 2016. April will see the beginning of a new title, some special one shot issues, and the start of several new story lines as many titles saw arcs conclude with their 50th issues in March.
Bruce Wayne back in the cowl as Batman at the end of the “Superheavy” arc finds himself battling a quiet night in Gotham City rather than a supervillain in Batman #51. Detective Comics #51 will see Jim Gordon attempt to help some of his old Marine friends and take his Batman suit along just in case. Superman seeks help from Batman in forming a new “Super League” in Batman/Superman #31. And in DK3 #5 Batman and Robin prepare for a battle with the Master Race with an unlikely ally fighting alongside them.
In other TBU family books, Grayson #19 (which starts with a new creative team) sees Dick stuck in the middle of the “Civil War” that he has started at Spyral. Babs finds herself at a major crossroads in life after the climactic events of the previous issue in Batgirl #51. Business is booming for Red Hood and Arsenal (and their continuing partner – Joker’s Daughter” who has now gone “legitimate”) in Red Hood/Arsenal #11. Damian and his friends team up with an old enemy as they continue their battle against evil in Robin: Son of Batman #11. And the Robins continue to fight against Smiley and the Jokers and hope to prove their worth to Gotham City in We Are Robin #11.
Selina deals with a long-lost part of her past when an artifact called “The Faceless Mask” resurfaces in Gotham City in Catwoman #51. Poison Ivy teams up with her old friend Catwoman to help solve the mystery at the Botanical Gardens in Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life and Death #4. Dinah continues her fight against the mysterious white ninja and deals with her missing mother in Black Canary #11.
Harley Quinn finds herself back in the DC publishing spotlight in April with four different issues starring the character including the creation of an all-new Harley title. Harley Quinn #27 sees Harley battling a new nemesis even crazier than she is while Harley teams up with Zatanna in Harley’s Little Black Book #3. Harley also stars in another monthly special, Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad April Fool’s Special #1 which sees Harley going back to her therapist roots to start a support group for super villains. And April brings the start of a new Harley six-issue miniseries, Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys #1 which spins off from stories from previous months in the main Harley title.
In team books, the JLA thinks they have beaten Rao but that victory comes at great personal cost for both the League and the people of Earth in JLA #10. The Darkseid War finally comes to a close in a 48-page finale that is said to change the fates for Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman in Justice League #50. Teen Titans #19 brings the conclusion of the “Who is Wonder Girl?” arc. The Titans seem to walk into a trap in their search for Mr. Twister in Titans Hunt #7. The Suicide Squad finds themselves set up by the Fist of Cain in New Suicide Squad #19. The Secret Six battle the League of Assassins in Secret Six #13. And the Gotham Academy gang closes out the “Yearbook” arc in Gotham Academy #17.
The new solicitations also include continuing issues of Batman Beyond, Batman/TMNT, Midnighter, Earth 2: Society, Batman ’66 Meets the Man from UNCLE, Justice League 3001, Injustice Year Five, and DC Comics Bombshells. See the full list of solicitations from the month of March 2016 below.
