Another week and we have another Spin Master item. Today we are taking a look at the Spin Master Batman 2-in-1 Transforming Batmobile and Batboat. This is not the only Batmobile from Spin Master, as we previously looked at the more deluxe option with the Batman Launch and Defend RC Batmobile a few weeks back. But despite being yet another Batmobile, there are some things that set this apart from the other past and current options from Spin Master.
Compared to the previous Batmobile we took a look at, this one is a more bare-bones version. There are no electronics involved and overall the design is pretty simplistic. There are no launching elements or even a figure included. However, while it is lacking those elements, the one thing that will make it stand out is its price. Compared to the RC vehicle, this Batmobile clocks in at almost half the cost. Amazon lists the standard price as twenty dollars which makes it a great addition to those looking at bulking up their evergreen collection of figures.
The main aspect that is meant to draw fans in, is the transforming aspect. It isn’t as much transforming as it is two vehicles that can come together. Picture the Megazord from Power Rangers and less Optimus Prime from Transformers. The Batboat could easily be mistaken as a mini Batwing. When I saw it sitting on the shelf at the store, I actually thought it was a flying vehicle because of the wings located on the sides.
Overall, while it is a simple design and offers little outside of what you see is what you get, the main draw is the affordability. Too often are vehicles and playsets too expensive for normal fans, or more specifically typical consumers who are buying it for their children, this is a great entry point. Sure, there are better Batmobiles out there for collectors, but this is a piece that is going to get played with more than anything, and for that I applaud Spin Master for making sure that Batman has a Batmobile to chase after villains.
