We at The Batman Universe are pretty focused on the Bat and his family, but don’t let that fool you into thinking we’re not huge fans of his work friends as well. Take for example the collective excitement over a newly announced string of VR experiences that focus on the member of the Justice League, a featured in the upcoming movie.
First up is Justice League VR: Join the League – Gillette Edition (two guesses who sponsored it), out now for iPhone and Android devices. This demo features short, 90 second, view based (meaning more looking than actual interaction) gameplay focused on Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, The Flash, and Aquaman. This version is free, but you’ll need your own VR viewer to partake. There is already game play footage online including this video below.
Coming next month at NYCC is an enhanced version of the demo, creatively entitled Justice League VR: Join the League – New York Comic Con Edition, this version will be built for the HTC Vive and include controller support for a more interactive experience. Sadly, you’ll need to be at the convention to actually get a hands-on look at this version.
Now, if after seeing Justice League on November 17, you’re wishing to sign up for the Justice League, the IMAX VR: Justice League Experience will be available at IMAX VR Centers (currently only in New York and Los Angeles) for a fully-immersive experience. This will probably be the most intense and detailed of all the VR-related tie-ins for the new film.
Closing out the year, and the onslaught of VR, will be Justice League Virtual Reality: The Complete Experience, a full home experience for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Samsung GearVR, Google DayDream and Sony PSVR with motion tracking, controller support, the works. This version will also feature missions for each member of the League such as:
- Outrace your enemies as BATMAN
- Fight Parademons as WONDER WOMAN
- Face a creature from the deep as AQUAMAN
- Stop a ticking bomb as THE FLASH
- Take out enemy drones as CYBORG
Future characters from the DCU (Superman, obviously) may also be added to the home version of the experience after the game’s release. Perhaps even DLC that flips the Batman and Flash’s missions because they seem…wrong.
So what other DCU characters do you want to see in the VR game.? My vote is for a Grant Gustin skin on The Flash, but that’s always my vote.
