DC has released their solicitations for all ongoing titles for the month of August 2015. These solicitations include all ongoing titles as well as the various miniseries that tie into Batman family characters. August seems to continue the stories of the new Batman (however, without continued reference to the “new” Batman, this is just an assumption that we will see the “All-new Batman” for more than the months of June and July). Specifically, Batman #43 sees Batman beginning a new arc with a new villain called Mr. Bloom, while Batman and “his new team” deal with a band of thieves developing a super weapon in Detective Comics #43. The Justice League of America investigates a mysterious new world religion in issue #3 while the Darkseid War continues in Justice League #43 where Batman “takes a dark journey into the depths of Godhood and unlocks the forbidden knowledge of the DC universe.”
Meanwhile, Grayson fights himself in Grayson #11 and Batgirl deals with Burnside’s new resident villain Velvet Tiger in issue #43. Red Hood/Arsenal #3 sees Jason and Roy working as freelance investigators for the mysterious Tara Battleworth, while Robin works alongside Nobody II in Robin: Son of Batman #3 and the new team of Robins finally meet Batman in We Are Robin #3. Selina Kyle investigates what really happened to Batman in Catwoman #43 and Black Canary deals with a kidnapped child prodigy in issue #3 of her solo title.
Harley Quinn is the title character in three different issues in August, dealing with the difficulties and responsibilities of being the boss of her new gang in Harley Quinn #19, fighting Vartox alongside her new pal Power Girl in Harley Quinn and Power Girl #3, and going on a road trip with Poison Ivy and Catwoman in Harley Quinn Road Trip Special #1.
In other TBU titles, the GCPD Midnight Shift deals with news anchors using mind control in Gotham by Midnight and there is a werewolf on the prowl at Gotham Academy. Tim Drake continues his battle with Brother Eye and discovers the secret of the cyborg Justice League in Batman Beyond #3 and Robin works with Bat-Mite in issue #3 of the Bat-Mite miniseries.
August also sees the continuation of titles like Batman ’66, the Arkham Knight prequel comic, the origin series for the Arkham Knight called Batman: Arkham Knight – Genesis, Injustice Year Four, Justice League Gods and Monsters, Midnighter, Teen Titans, and Suicide Squad. Additionally, TBU has already reported that August will bring the beginning of a DC Bombshells comic based on the statue line of the same name and many titles will come with variant covers also based on these character designs.
