There has been little information revealed about the next TV series featuring Batman since it's announcement back in October. MovieWeb was conducting an interview with Kurtwood Smith during a press junket for the Blu-ray release of Dead Poets Society and found out that the actor is involved with the new show.
Smith voices Lt. James Gordon. By the name of the character alone, it is obvious that this new series focuses on Batman's earlier career than his established legend. Smith had this to say about the show:
"We just started. We've only recorded two, before Christmas. I like the general thrust of the show. It's early in the Batman story. Commissioner Gordon isn't even Commissioner yet, he's just Lieutenant Gordon. He doesn't trust Batman, even though they kind of end up helping each other out on an early case. Batman, in a lot of ways, is learning his way, and the relationship between he and Alfred is developing. It's fun and it's kind of straight in that regard, as opposed to being campy. I think it's going to be good, but it won't be out for at least a year or so."
While little information has been released by Warner Bros., if the show follows the same debut schedule as the previous two series; Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice; the show could have it's premiere in November of this year with the season beginning in January of 2013. Stay tuned to The Batman Universe as more information becomes available for the series.
