While this can't be classified as too unexpected, over the weekend it was revealed that DC Comics is planning on publishing a comic series based off the upcoming Injustice: Gods Among Us video game set to released this coming April.
According to The Verge, Ed Boon was promoting the game at EB Expo in Australia and said the following:
We're working on an Injustice comic book to carry the story and tell the events that came before the game. With a game like Mortal Kombat, so many things spawned from there, like the movie. Obviously the extreme version is it would spawn a lot more things, but I know for sure we are making an Injustice comic.
The reason this does not come as a surprise is because DC Comics also published a series for not only DC Universe Online which lasted just over a year after the game released, but also last year's Batman: Arkham City which still has new issues being released digitally every week.
Most likely, the series may end up replacing the Arkham series come April when Injustice releases. It also will probably be a digital release before print versions are published months later similar to the path the series based around Batman: Arkham City did as well.
