Warner Bros. has released a number of new images for the highly anticipated The Batman. Some of these images have been seen as part of the trailers released, but others are promotional pieces that will likely be seen as merchandise for the film starts to become available in the coming months. These images from The Batman deserve a certain level of things needing to be analyzed, so below each image, you will find a theory attached to each one. It is worth pointing out that while the theories are conjecture, spoilers, or at the very least, details may be revealed.
The first image is one that may not have been seen exactly, but the timing of the image takes place during the most recent trailer around the 1:12 mark. This takes place during not the initial meeting between Batman and Catwoman, but possibly the next day as it isn’t nighttime. This could also be when Catwoman is telling Batman about Riddler’s new plan dealing with the Wayne’s.
The second image is pretty straightforward. Penguin is likely sitting in his base of operations, which may end up being the Iceberg Lounge or Casino. This likely takes place prior to his encounter with Batman which leads to a car crash scene at the end of the trailer released in October.
The next image is not one we have seen at this point. It appears that James Gordon and Batman are in the middle of a crime scene, potentially having to do with the Riddler, or maybe having nothing to do with him. They appear to be in the morgue and they are looking at a cage of some sort. Possibly a place something was tested on? Either way, the morgue seems like an odd place for some to do testing on live subjects held in a cage.
Bruce Wayne is the focus of the next image. This appears to take place after the attack on the funeral first shown in the first trailer released back in 2020. This also seems to take place after the meeting with the woman who approaches Bruce earlier in the Bat and Cat trailer. He seems to be in a hurry, which could be because of the attack and he needs to get into the Bat-suit, which may be in the bag he is carrying in the image.
The final two screenshot images of The Batman focus on things pulled directly from the various trailers. There is Riddler wrapping up someone with duct tape. This was seen in the original FanDome trailer in 2020. The other shot is the final moments of the trailer released a few months back after Batman takes down the Penguin.
There are then two images that feature Matt Reeves in the middle of directing two different scenes. The first seems to be from the moment after Batman walks through the house of the person Riddler attacked with duct tape. By the looks of the image, there is a boy who no longer has a father because of Riddler’s attack. This was shown in the original trailer. But it is also the same scene when the district attorney asks Gordon if Batman is involved seen in the third trailer.
The other behind-the-scenes image features Matt Reeves directing Robert Pattinson in what appears to be the Gotham Police Department. This could take place during the interrogation scene from the second trailer which makes sense due to the setting and lighting.
The final two images from The Batman have less reason to be analyzed. This is because they are clearly meant to be promotional images. One has Penguin sitting in a suit casting his disdain towards the viewer. The other is Riddler in his costume. Could there be a swerve? Certainly, as we have seen in the third trailer that the henchmen for Riddler are wearing the exact same outfit. That almost feels like a callback to the scene with Joker’s henchmen in The Dark Knight.
As the release date for the film gets closer, more images will be released and The Batman will be analyzed even more. That’s what is called anticipation and right now, this film is getting building a lot of anticipation.
