The headline above is not something you would probably expect to see. With the recent success of the Batman: The Long Halloween Part One releasing on home video and Part 2 coming in a few weeks, DC Comics has courted Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale to return to the classic story to tell a new story within the confines of the same universe with Batman: The Long Halloween Special.
The story is meant to revisit the characters from the story and tell a mystery that could destroy Batman, James Gordon, and Two-Face. Brennan Wagner will join the title on colors with Richard Starkings taking on lettering duties. Tim Sale will pencil and ink the story with Jeph Loeb writing. Loeb shared the following comments about the upcoming special.
“Twenty-five years ago, Tim Sale and I set out to tell a mystery tale of how Gotham City went from crime to freaks. The result was Batman: The Long Halloween. We’re thrilled to be back at DC revisiting some of our favorite characters all the while revealing that you may not know the whole story…”
The issue will have a standard cover by Tim Sale, a variant cover by Tim Sale, and a one in twenty-five variant cover also by Tim Sale. You can see all three covers in the gallery above. Batman: The Long Halloween Special will be a forty-eight-page prestige format book priced at $7.99 that will hit retailers on October 12.
