Move over Blackbird, Fantasti-Car, and Spider-Mobile, because Batman just majorly upped the super hero transportation game. Entertainment Weekly has reported that in November’s Justice League film, moviegoers will see the team travelling in style aboard the Flying Fox. Now before you start picturing the sidekick of Sega’s blue hedgehog, allow production designer Patrick Tatopoulos to paint a picture of just how massive and thought-out this vehicle will be. It’s definitely not a Batwing:
You can put three Batmobiles in the lower part of it, I didn’t want to do a sleek airplane; it needed to feel like an extremely avant-garde classic. With the maneuverability of a jet—but it can actually carry things.
The bottom part of the jet is a huge cargo bay, which the Batmobile sits in. The second floor is like a cultural center, with computer terminals. The third story is the cockpit. Whatever floor you are on, you can see [the other] two stories.
Sounds to me like the Flying Fox is quite reminiscent of Serenity, the central ship of Joss Whedon’s Firefly, also home to a rag tag group of clashing personalities. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to refresh the LEGO homepage until the inevitable brick-version of this massive ship is announced.
Justice League flies, zooms, and swims into theaters November 17.
