It’s been ten years since the release of The Dark Knight and the movie still holds up as one of the best Batman stories put on film. From Heath Ledger’s iconic performance as the Joker to the meditation of what makes a hero and what makes a villain, The Dark Knight is nothing short of iconic.
In celebration of the ten year anniversary, Variety is reporting that the film will be re-released in four IMAX theaters for one week beginning August 24. The theaters will be located in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Toronto so if you live in these cities you’ll want to pick up tickets when they go on sale this Friday, July 20. The following are the theaters that will show the film:
AMC Universal Citywalk Imax, Universal City
AMC Lincoln Square Imax, New York
AMC Metreon Imax, San Francisco
Ontario Place Cinesphere Imax, Toronto
It would be nice to have the movie expanded to other theaters since the film did include many scenes filmed specifically to take advantage of the IMAX format. It really has to be seen on the big screen for the full effect. Let us know if you plan to see the film and share your memories of the movie in the comments below!
