Man, it’s been a minute, but here is part 3 of this series. You can check out part 1 and part 2, in case you missed them. We’re taking a look at the actors that have crossed over the Marvel/DC barrier and acted in movies and TV for both companies.
21. Dominic Purcell
Actor in movies and on the small screen, I first heard of Dominic Purcell when he starred on Fox’s “Prison Break”. This British-born, half-Norwegian, half-Irish actor grew up in Australia and never thought he could become an actor. Today, not only is he an actor, but he’s been in both DC and Marvel productions!
DC -Arrowverse – Mick Rory / Heat Wave
The career criminal and arsonist villain and sci-fi romance novelist in the Arrowverse. His story line is as crazy as it is diverse. He’s a hot-headed and impulsive pyromaniac who lives life according to his own rules.
Marvel – Blade: Trinity – Drake
Very old and powerful vampire, Drake considers himself the best of the vampires and humans, respecting only those who can or could take him in combat.
22. Doug Jones
Though Doug Jones is an actor in the traditional sense, where he’s made his mark in Hollywood is as a silent actor – in prosthetics. He’s been in award-winning shows and movies where he is usually unrecognizable, such as when he was a Gentleman in the “Hush” episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”.
DC – Arrowverse – Jake Simmons / Deathbolt
Deathbolt could shoot plasma rays from his eyes after absorbing electricity. He was a villain in the Arrowverse until he is killed by Leonard Snart’s cold gun.
Marvel – Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer – Silver Surfer
Silver Surfer is a crazy powerful, amazing comic legend. The movie version…is shiny.
23. Floriana Lima
From Ohio, Floriana wanted to become a journalist. However, working for her local NBC affiliate, she realized she would rather be an actor! After a series of one-off roles in shows, she landed the role of Maggie Sawyer on Supergirl.
DC – Supergirl (TV) – Maggie Sawyer
Though in the comics she is part of the Batman Universe as Kate Kane/Batwoman’s love interest, in the Arrowverse she is a police officer ally of Supergirl and in a relationship with Alex Danvers.
Marvel – Punisher (TV) – Krista Dumont
A Psychotherapist who befriends and becomes romantically involved with friend turned villain Billy Russo.
24. Françoise Yip
Canadian actress who started in Hong Kong films. Francoise has worked a lot with Jackie Chan and Jet Li.
DC#1 – Arrow – The Priestess
A member of the League of Assassins, she served as a priestess for Ra’s Aal Ghul, who inducts Oliver Queen into the League.
DC#2 – Smallville – Dr. Lia Teng
A North Korean doctor working for LutherCorp who conducts illegal experiments and uses Lazarus serum to bring the dead back.
Marvel – Blade: Trinity – Virago
A vampire in the House of Talos.
25. Gloria Reuben
A beautiful Canadian-American actress known for her appearance as Jeanie Boulet in 90s drama ER.
DC – Flash(90s) – Sabrina
Girlfriend of Barry Allen’s friend, Julio Mendez.
Marvel – Cloak & Dagger – Adina Johnson
A consultant for the Roxxon Corporation and wife of Otis Johnson.
26. Gregg Henry
American actor and rock, blues, and country musician. Has been very active in TV and movies for 50 years.
DC#1 – Black Lightning – Marin Proctor
Deceased leader of the A.S.A. in Freeland. He plans to kill Black Lightning.
DC#2 – Supergirl – Peter Thompson
A convicted murderer and father of Rick Malverne.
Marvel – Guardians of the Galaxy – Grandpa Quill
When he loses his daughter to cancer his anger drives little Peter Quill out of the hospital and into the arms of Yondu and his Ravagers. Later, as an old man, Peter returns and the two are reunited.
27. Halle Berry
Academy award-winning American film actress. I first noticed her in the live action The Flinstones movie. She has an extensive and impressive filmography, including Monster’s Ball, which won her an Oscar, becoming the first black woman to win “Best Actress” in 2001 (which is…really sad for the industry).
DC – Catwoman – Catwoman
Patience Phillips overhears a criminal plot and is drowned for her troubles. She is brought to life by an Egyptian cat, giving her new life and cat like attributes. Halle Berry accepted her Razzie for this film in person.
Marvel – X-Men – Storm
Ororo Munroe/Storm can control the weather. She plays a main character in the X-men Film franchise. Notable terrible lines given her include “Do you know what happens to a toad when it’s struck by lightning? The same thing that happens to everything else.”
28. Idris Elba
English actor and DJ. Idris is an amazing TV and film actor, finding his way into numerous franchises. He stands out in any project he is involved in. He is a fan-favorite contender for the new James Bond.
DC – The Suicide Squad – Bloodsport
Robert DuBois is an imprisoner assassin and terrible father, hired by Amanda Waller to be in the Suicide Squad in the DCEU. He is one of few survivors of the mission. He later attempts to reconsolidate with his daughter.
Marvel – Thor – Heimdall
The all-seeing guard of Asgard and guardian of the Bifrost Bridge. Heimdall is a good friend of Thor all around awesome dude.
29. J.K. Simmons
American actor and voice actor. Has amazing range, being hilarious as the disembodied voice of Cave Johnson in the Portal game franchise, the kind and stressed Tenzin in Legend of Korra, or the the disturbingly horrible Terence Fletcher in Whiplash, which won him an Oscar.
DC – Justice League – Commissioner Gordon
Jim Gordon is a close ally of Batman and one of few police officers with integrity. Helps out the Justice League when Batman brings them to Gotham.
Marvel – Spider-Man – J. Jonah Jameson
J.K. Simmons has ironically become J. Jonah Jameson and has portrayed the character in a wide range of adaptations, including numerous video games, animated and LEGO shows and movies, and live adaptations of Spider-Man and Venom. The universe agrees that no other actor could do justice to the role.
30. James Marsden
American TV and film actor who is best known for being “the guy who gets dumped by the main girl for the main guy”.
DC – Superman Returns – Richard White
Though a departure from his film reputation, Richard White actually does end up with the girl (Lois Lane), but one could argue, only because Superman was off planet for so long. He is engaged to Lois and the two have a child. Good for him.
Marvel – X-Men – Scott Summers Cyclops
Jean Grey’s boyfriend before Wolverine shows up. He has an uncontrollable red beam/laser eye which he keeps in check with a special visor.
