Entertainment Weekly has revealed that DC’s “work-space” comedy Powerless will find themselves at home under a very specific banner. The drama, comedy and perhaps maybe even some action will take place in the offices of Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises according to cast members Vanessa Hudgens, Danny Pudi and Ron Funches. Powerless will be the latest take on exploring the unintended consequences for non-super and non-powered folks when superheroes and villains do battle.
This is different from the initial pilot that was tested with audiences having the group work for an insurance company that dealt with the aftermath of superhero situations. The new synopsis reads:
In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero.
Let’s face it, you’ve always wanted to see what happens when Bruce Wayne has a bad case of the Mondays. Powerless also features Alan Tudyk and Christina Kirk. The show debuts Thursday, February 2 at 8:30pm EST on NBC.
