Arrow star Stephen Amell will get the chance to work alongside his real-life wife in the upcoming Legends-less Arrowverse crossover. According to TVLine, Cassandra Jean Amell, a former America’s Next Top Model contestant, has been cast as Nora Fries, wife to infamous Batman villain Mr. Freeze. Amell’s acting credits also include roles on Mad Men, Heart of Dixie, CSI: NY, and One Tree Hill.
Since becoming a sympathetic fan favorite on Batman: The Animated Series, Mr. Freeze and his tragic love story have captivated Batman fans alongside the saga of The Joker and Harley Quinn. This is not the first time Nora Fries has graced the small screen. She’s previously been played by Kristen Hagar in the second season of Gotham. This will however be her first appearance in the Arrowverse.
The three-show crossover event, beginning December 9, will introduce fans to Orange is the New Black star Ruby Rose’s much anticipated Batwoman, but will reportedly not include an appearance by Mr. Freeze himself. A Waner Bros. spokesperson has said that while Nora will have a role in the event, her husband will not. Instead, Nora Fries will be flying solo alongside to introductions of Batwoman, Lois Lane, and the return of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. It has also been reported that Lois Lane will be played by Grimm star Elizabeth Tulloch.
