David S. Goyer (writer of Man of Steel) wrote the script for Man of Steel 2, which is set to be shot early 2014 and set to be released July 2015. However, there is no surprise that the script needs a rewrite or someone to look over the writing. There is no Christopher Nolan nor Jonathan Nolan to ground Goyer's comic book lore, which is definitely found in his writing. Someone has to make the script seem more sensible…why not Argo writer, Chris Terrio? As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Terrio will be doing rewrites for Man of Steel 2.
Chris Terrio wrote the screenplay for Argo (2012), which was directed and starred by Ben Affleck; also it won Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay in 2013. So, this is the guy for the job right? Argo was very suspenseful and kept audiences guessing even though they knew what the outcome was going to be. It was more about how did the characters get out of that situation that really drove the film. Someone like Terrio can bring real suspense, high risk stakes, and even better dialogue between characters to make a film shine.
Now, Man of Steel 2 has a lot of characters even though most of them will be cameo appearances. The amount of screen time given to those characters means everything to an audience of comic book fans. Dialogue is extremely important for these little cameos because those few words summarizes everything that a specific character stands for. This is similar in Man of Steel for Faora's case who had very little to say, but when she spoke you knew exactly what her motives were as well as her character. This is exactly what Man of Steel 2 needs, good dialogue that will portray the essence of the DC characters found in this movie. It's not bad to see another writer come in to do some rewrites, it's practically natural in Hollywood to have script rewrites. Fans may become extremely more skeptical about Man of Steel 2, but Goyer needs someone to ground his writing. Terrio is the man of the job especially since the writer has changed agencies from CAA to WME.
Who knows Terrio might be the next writer for a Batman movie starring and directed by Ben Affleck?
