Ever since it was announced that the various members of the CW’s DC Universe of shows would be teaming up with Batwoman herself, Kate Kane, in this winter’s crossover event, it has been a wild ride for the character. Not content to just be a guest star, the CW is actually developing a series based on the character which we’ve learned will go into production this spring. Assuming the pilot gets good feedback from the execs over on the CW, it could mean the show will premiere as soon as next fall. Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) will write the script for the pilot which is being executive produced by Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter who are responsible for the deluge of DC shows on the network.
The introduction of Batwoman to the CW could bring with her great things. Supergirl gave us a small screen version of Superman that many argue is portrayed better than his big screen counterpart, so it’s not completely out of the question to see other members of the Bat-Family up to and including the Dark Knight himself on the show at some point. Batwoman could serve as the entry point into the world of Batman which will be sorely lacking with the soon to end Gotham on FOX.
